In 2006, every girl that was between the ages of seven and thirteen looked forward to the premiere of High School Musical. After watching it, every girl's dream was to find Troy Bolton and to be Gabriella Montez. Being ten, I was not excluded.

In 2014, my senior year of high school, talent show flyers plastered the school hallways; I knew I would make that dream come true. My friend, Gerhardt, agreed to be Troy, and we began practicing. As difficult as it was to simultaneously dance and sing without breaking into a coughing fit, I was determined.

The night of the show, as I stood behind the curtain before it rose, I coughed a few last times; I was scared my sick lungs were going to ruin the entire performance. Although I did not get through the whole song without holding the microphone to the side so I could cough, the first time that I stopped to catch my breath, my friends prompted the audience to stand up. They all sang every word with me. The applause was deafening.

I have always been ambitious and determined. Even though I have had to overcome much bigger things in my life, I am really proud of successfully finishing that show. When I was ten, I had the dream to be Gabriella. Eight years later, that dream came true. Despite having Cystic Fibrosis, I do not only chase my dreams, but I catch them... And I have so much fun doing it.
