"Describe an achievement or rewarding experience that you are most proud of accomplishing while living with CF, and how it has molded the person you have become."

When I think of an achievement I made while living with Cystic Fibrosis, the same day comes into my mind each time, graduation from high school in 2012. The reason graduation was my greatest achievement was because senior year was half reminiscing with my classmates about all the great memories in school together, and the other half was working on scholarships. I applied for as many scholarship as I could and put 100% of my effort into them in order to help pay for schooling. I knew my parents could only help so much and the rest was up to me. Sitting in my seat when the administration handed out the awards/scholarships, I anxiously waited for my name called at least once as I clasped my plans together in anticipation. I ended up receiving nine scholarships that day. Each time I heard my name, I walked up to receive my award and I looked up in the stands at my parents and grandparents and saw the tears and happiness on their faces. Making my family proud was and continues to be one of my greatest achievements while living with Cystic Fibrosis. Receiving the awards and scholarships made all my hard work I had put in the last year of high school worth all the late nights and headaches. I use my achievements from graduation as a motivator for me during my late nights and headaches at college and the little voice inside my head keeps telling me, “It’ll be worth it”.

Olivia B.'s Artwork

My journalism class my sophomore year at my university inspired my creative presentation. My story was on a local photographer who started her business at the age of fifteen. My professor told me I should submit it somewhere for publication. I submitted my story to a local magazine called, Tiffin Life. My story on Taylor Elchert Photography ended up making the cover and being the feature story of the magazine. I love to write and I inspire to be an author one day so I feel my feature story demonstrates my writing ability on my journey to become an author.
