"What inspirational advice would you give to others with CF entering high school or college? As part of your essay, please also explain the significance of your creative presentation to your journey with CF."

As one chapter of my life comes to an end, experiences have allowed me to gain knowledge, wisdom, and self worth. Entering high school calls for meeting new people and along with that, comes valuing your true self and staying true to self morals. Cystic Fibrosis is a large part of my daily life, but it does not define who I am. Treatments, chest therapy, and pills take time but there is more to life than medicine.

For an upcoming freshman in high school, remember this: Define yourself and do not let Cystic Fibrosis keep you from living the life you wish to live. Find friends that accept you for what you have and do not solely base their opinion of you on the small part of sickness in your life. Put your faith in something that motivates you to be determined to beat Cystic Fibrosis, whether the faith be in God or anything else. We were given CF because we are strong enough to overcome the obstacles that come with it. Find your place in high school but also find your strength. You will be amazed at how much you can achieve when you define yourself.

I chose to submit my picture because I have never allowed CF to fully consume my life. I keep myself healthy and do all my treatments but I am so much more than this disease. I am a softball player, a cheerleader, and I am determined to beat Cystic Fibrosis.
