"What inspirational advice would you give to others with CF entering high school or college? As part of your essay, please also explain the significance of your creative presentation to your journey with CF."

You will always be different from those around you. You must take what makes you different, accept it, and then use it to empower yourself. You've got to enjoy the little things in life that others take for granted, and then make a difference - not just in your life, but in the lives of others. Having cystic fibrosis, you know what it's like to fight a battle from the inside and make it seem like nothing is wrong on the outside. Just remember you're not alone. Think about how many others around you are fighting their own internal battles.

As you enter high school, make sure you care for others the way you care for yourself. Don't make becoming "popular" a priority, because finding those few people who understand and relate to you, and whom you trust with your life, is the most important thing you can do. Find those close ties and keep them close to your heart forever.

Find your passion and immerse yourself in it. When I discovered ski racing 10 years ago, I had no idea what a profound impact it would have on my life. Becoming an athlete was a game changer not only for my health but for my hopes and dreams. My video presentation is an affirmation of what kids with CF can achieve. There are no boundaries. We can do the impossible. We can fight and win - against all odds.
