"What inspirational advice would you give to others with CF entering high school or college? As part of your essay, please also explain the significance of your creative presentation to your journey with CF."

Living with CF is a marathon not a race. A healthy lifestyle, positive outlook, and discipline are all essential for a better quality of life. My advice to anyone battling CF is to find something you enjoy that supports these things. Fortunately for me, I found my passion and outlet at a young age. When I was five, I began competitive dance. For the past 11 years I have trained 2 to 3 hours per day around 5 days a week. Not only does the exercise help me expand my lungs on a daily basis, but being physically fit helps shorten the recovery time after a hospitalization. Dancing has also helped me mentally with fighting this disease and during difficult times dance is my escape. It is a place where I can express my feelings positively and when I am taking class and creating I am not thinking of anything else at the moment. Dance is a great stress reliever. Over the years, I have been very successful and this success has instilled a confidence that I can do anything. This confidence has helped me land commercials and acting jobs. For my senior CIBACS project I produced, danced, and choreographed a show benefiting the CF Foundation. The pieces in this show focused on breathing, faith, and over coming adversity. A common saying for dancers is, "I live to dance" for me I say "I dance to Live".
