"Life can be a series of challenges or opportunities depending on how you approach it. As you enter adulthood, how have you conquered a difficult task to turn it into an opportunity? As part of your essay, please explain the significance of your creative presentation to your journey with CF."

Cystic Fibrosis can often be seen as a challenge or a barrier, but I have found it to be just the opposite while attending college. Each day, I get up and understand I will face challenges others will not have to face and often these challenges force me to be the first one up in the morning and the last one to bed at night. Whether it be handling my medications or doing breathing treatments, there is always something added to the day. While this may be seen as an issue that holds me back, I see it as an opportunity to push myself forward. For someone else facing CF, the one piece of advice I can give is to take every opportunity and don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone.

During my sophomore year, the one lesson I learned was live every single day to its fullest. There are only 24 hours in the day, and once the clock ticks past those hours you can never go back. Take the time to find out who you really are, explore our world every chance you get, and when the opportunity presents itself, teach others about how Cystic Fibrosis has impacted your life.

My creative piece tells the story of how I chose to live my life. Facing adversity, I never let Cystic Fibrosis hold me back and as long as I keep moving forward, I can be bigger than the disease I fight every day.
