"Life can be a series of challenges or opportunities depending on how you approach it. As you enter adulthood, how have you conquered a difficult task to turn it into an opportunity? As part of your essay, please explain the significance of your creative presentation to your journey with CF."

I can't remember a single day that has not started and ended with an ambush of inhalers and breathing treatments. There have been many setbacks and obstacles living with cystic fibrosis, and at times I have struggled greatly. But, I can honestly say that I would not change a thing. There has never been a doubt in my mind about the great love and support my family has for me as they drive me to distant appointments, encourage me through dark times, and labor diligently to help me with my treatments. I consider myself blessed to be able to feel their love every day. I have gained a greater self-confidence and perspective through my work serving and speaking as the ambassador for the Tri-Cities CF Foundation. My disease has given me a great sense of purpose, instead of shame or despair. I will continue to chase my dream of running many more races and becoming a humble, inspiring figure for others to look to for strength. I choose to endure life well, regardless of my circumstances. I will become better, not bitter. And one day, I hope that my weakness will grow to become my strength.

My whole attitude in life is to "not be afraid to try difficult things" and to "never give up". I hope that you will feel this message as you watch my creative presentation that includes pictures, artwork, and my voice explaining how I choose to live my life with cystic fibrosis.
