The path one takes with cystic fibrosis is not always smooth and straight. It is often littered with bumps and curves, and sometimes they seem to come from out of nowhere. Navigating the path of life with cystic fibrosis can be a challenge. Having someone there along the way, to provide inspiration and support in challenging and rewarding times, makes the journey remarkable.
In recent years those bumps have seemed to occur more frequently than they had in the past. The road, while still manageable, has become a bit more uncomfortable. I am blessed to have two people who travel by my side through it all. My parents stand steadfast among the challenges and inspire me with their guidance, love, and support. Just as a house is only as strong as its foundation, I need only look at my parents to see the strength I strive for.
As a kindergarten teacher, I know the deep feeling of love that children bring forth. As difficult as my journey with CF can sometimes seem, I know it is my parent's journey that is truly the challenging one. However, their support never wavers. They encourage me to push forward, to continue pursuing my passion to educate and my love of reading and learning. My presentation of painted dandelions, painted alongside my mother, signifies the importance of every breath and the dreams each breath carries with it, like dandelion seeds in the wind.
