When I was four years old a new family moved in next door to me. I stood on the driveway with my mom as she introduced herself to the new neighbors. I had no idea that I was about to meet my best friend, Jane. Since that day Jane and I went on to attend the same grade school, high school, and college. I have been roommates with Jane since freshman year. It is easy to see that we are inseparable by every meaning of the word.

The special thing about growing up with Jane is that she understands cystic fibrosis as much as I do. She encourages me to exercise and helps sanitize my treatments. She is my caregiver when I am ill and my support system when I am weak.

“Friendship is a single soul dwelling in two bodies” –Aristotle

Jane is the part of my soul that carries my strength and my determination. I have never felt alone with cystic fibrosis because Jane understands what I go through. I have faith that I will never lose to CF because even if I stop fighting, Jane never will.

I created a video that follows my journey with cystic fibrosis. In the video I talk about what I have learned from living with cystic fibrosis. My hope is that it will inspire others to achieve their goals no matter what obstacles they face.
