"In honor of the 25th anniversary of the AbbVie CF Scholarship, choose an event (personal or cultural/historical) from the past 25 years and describe how it has impacted your journey with CF."

Living with Cystic Fibrosis has caused me to think about the inevitability of death more than I would have if I did not have this illness. From a young age I have understood life is valuable in a way that many people do not understand until they reach old age. However, I did not realize how valuable I am until last fall when I met Jesus. My relationship with Jesus has had the single most impact on my journey with CF. I realized I cannot neglect my health knowing that while my body is sick it is also a temple in which the Holy Spirit dwells. This gave me a reason to do my medications every day and to eat healthy foods. I did not want to keep surviving with CF. I wanted to thrive. My health is now at one of the best places it has ever been and I have Jesus to thank for that. I still think about death, but in a joyous manner, because when I die I will join my Father in heaven. I believe in miracles and my prayer is for God to heal me by taking away my CF. I no longer have to go through my CF journey afraid of when my health might take a turn for the worse, instead I know that whatever happens God is with me and I have nothing to fear.
