"In honor of the 25th anniversary of the AbbVie CF Scholarship, choose an event (personal or cultural/historical) from the past 25 years and describe how it has impacted your journey with CF."

The notion of fundraising and the constant generosity and support of the people around me has contributed greatly to the improvements made to Cystic Fibrosis. The efforts of groups such as Briana’s Buddies have allowed tremendous advancements to be made within the realm of CF. Over the last 25 years, the life expectancy has nearly doubled and we make further strides towards a cure. Not only am I reminded of the abundance of funds that have been raised to continue conquering this disease through research, new technologies, and revolutionary medications, but also I am reminded of the amazing people in my life that make these funds possible and this journey a happier one. Awareness, support, and generosity, are just a few words to describe Briana’s Buddies. This team made up of kind, loving, and selfless people are the reason I have not traveled alone in this journey. Each member of Briana’s Buddies has brought strength, guidance, and support to my life in one way or another. Yearly the event as a whole takes place where the buddies come together, but this fantastic group brings laughter, and encouragement to my life daily. Without this team, the medical advances would not be made, my smiles would be fewer, and my life would be incomplete. I am grateful that my fellow CFers and I have this monumental event of fundraising, because without it this disease as we know it would not have the hopes it has for us living with it today.
