"As you pursue your dreams of higher education, describe what changes you would like to see in the CF community. What steps would you take to initiate these changes?"

One of the changes that I would like to see in the CF community is to provide more advertising of events that are upcoming. One step I would take is to advertise using social media. Since technology has become a big part in today's world, advertising such events is cheap and easy. For events that CF patients cannot participate in, a helpful solution would be to have live skyping or twitter posts for us to use to participate in such events. Another step is to advertise through the media on television. Sometimes on television I will see an advertisement about a run/walk event for some cancer. Seeing something similar for CF events or run/walks would be helpful.

Another change that I would like to see in the CF community is better communication of options when dealing with the changes in health care or in prescriptions. Since there has been so many changes with the health care system in the last few years, it is hard to keep up with what changes affect different patients with different health plans. It would be helpful to know what other programs are out there when dealing with changes in health care. One step would be updating and educating social workers on what programs and changes are happening. Another step would be using technology and applications, such as skype, to keep in constant touch with doctors and nurses.
