"2022 marks the 30th anniversary of the AbbVie CF Scholarship. As we celebrate this milestone, we look forward to continuing to recognize more students pursing their educational goals. Please share your future ambitions in the Cystic Fibrosis community, professionally and personally."

As far back as I can remember I have always loved problem-solving, especially doing so in a creative fashion. This unwavering love of problem-solving throughout my entire life has led me to want to pursue a career in engineering. I think my passion for problem-solving stems from my endless curiosity about how I can help to solve and reduce a problem that has been with me from the very beginning, Cystic Fibrosis. I have always used traditional airway clearance treatments and medications as the solution to reducing my problem, as well as participated in various athletic activities throughout my youth. Upon entering high school I decided that I wanted to further reduce the impact that Cystic Fibrosis had on me and so I elected to pursue the fitness portion of my solution much more rigorously. I decided to become a runner, and after four years of nonstop running, I am happy to say that this solution has had a bigger impact on my problem than I ever could have imagined. By exponentially increasing my daily fitness over the last four years, the impact it has had on my health has led me to want to spread the tremendous effects that physical fitness can have on an individual, with the Cystic Fibrosis community. While this is by no means a solution to Cystic Fibrosis as a whole, the benefits that increasing one's physical fitness can have are incalculable. I feel that it is now my duty to be a role model for others in the community as an example of what fitness can do for people with Cystic Fibrosis. While I will one day go to solve the world's problems as an engineer, it is my hope that by raising awareness and acting as a role model for people living with Cystic Fibrosis, I can help solve part of their problem. By embracing fitness in the Cystic Fibrosis community, those with the condition cannot only improve their health on a physical level but also on a mental one, leading to an overall healthier body. I strive to achieve the healthiest and most fit version of myself, and this goal is what helps me to look ahead and push forward in life. It is my hope that others can one day take me as a role model and do the same. I look to serve as a role model of the importance of fitness on a personal level for the Cystic Fibrosis community; professionally as a future engineer, I look to one day possibly having the opportunity to directly impact the lives of members of the community through my line of work.
