"2022 marks the 30th anniversary of the AbbVie CF Scholarship. As we celebrate this milestone, we look forward to continuing to recognize more students pursing their educational goals. Please share your future ambitions in the Cystic Fibrosis community, professionally and personally."

The investment made by AbbVie has changed my life and thousands of lives of those battling cystic fibrosis. Advances in therapies have truly redefined cystic fibrosis as a chronic disease. Managing cystic fibrosis, however, instills several qualities that I have found beneficial as I have navigated college. Self-discipline, organization, and mental strength and resolve are just a few that quickly come to mind. As I embark on my senior year at Pfeiffer University, I look forward to completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a concentration in Creative Writing. Writing has always been an outlet for me as I have encountered challenges both in life and my battle with cystic fibrosis. Processing my emotions through poems and short stories has been a constant in my life, and during the COVID-19 pandemic, I used that time of isolation to complete my first novel which will be published later in 2022! Although I am very excited about this accomplishment, I have equally learned a tremendous amount about the business side of publishing which I hope will serve me as I begin my career next summer. Cystic Fibrosis has also taught me to be flexible! So, as I have hopes and dreams that I plan to pursue, I also realize the journey will probably not be a straight line. Although I do not know what detours, challenges and opportunities are ahead, I know my educational and life foundation are solid. Those that fight cystic fibrosis are resilient and resourceful, and although our lungs or stomach may stop us from time-to-time, never discount our presence, impact, and voice.
