"Living through a global pandemic with a chronic illness, what is one piece of inspirational advice that you would give to other students with CF who are in the same or similar position?"

The COVID-19 global pandemic has not been simple for anyone to navigate. However, for those with chronic diseases like cystic fibrosis, life have been a little more challenging over the last year. I personally have found myself more isolated, which created and complicated a separate set of issues to overcome. After the dust settled, I took some time for reflection during this isolation period and decided to use that time to examine the relationships and things in my life. What was I searching for? Happiness! Everyone, whether or not they have CF, has their own set of burdens to overcome. Why do we work so hard, usually in less-than-ideal circumstances to overcome these hardships? To pursue happiness and joy. So simple yet so complicated at the same time. The pandemic forced me to reflect, and in doing so I could discern the relationships and things in my life more clearly. And I have made some difficult choices to remove things standing in my way of pursuing happiness. My advice for others in similar situations; I encourage you to not be deterred by isolation, but to utilize that opportunity for self-examination to identify what and who brings happiness and joy into your life. The process, like any personal growth, may be uncomfortable but remain focused on your desired outcome because your happiness is worth it!
