"2022 marks the 30th anniversary of the AbbVie CF Scholarship. As we celebrate this milestone, we look forward to continuing to recognize more students pursing their educational goals. Please share your future ambitions in the Cystic Fibrosis community, professionally and personally."

As I continue on through life as a student and as a person with Cystic Fibrosis, I see new opportunities in a way I had not considered before. In the past, I have been fairly solitary from the CF community, wanting to be "normal" meant that I did not want to seek connections to Cystic Fibrosis outside of the ways I already had to deal with it every day. Putting myself out there seemed like an unnecessary reminder of my condition, and as a result I was not so active in the community. Recently, however, I've tested the waters. Reaching out to other people with CF on social media while also reading articles and stories written by them has brought more comfort to my life than I had thought was possible. CF is and will always be a part of my life and a part of many others too; that's why I want to be more active in the community. I will continue this trend of reaching out to others whose lives are affected by Cystic Fibrosis and someday I hope to share my own story. When it comes to my professional goals and as I continue to pursue software engineering, I have come to realize how applicable of a field it is. I have seen my interest shift to wanting to be a part of creating some of the revolutionary technology that makes the lives for people with CF easier, or at the very least, more connected to each other. This is only the beginning and I’m excited to see what the Cystic Fibrosis community will look like in the future and how I can be a part of creating it.
